Privacy Trees &
Screening Plants for Texas
A living privacy screen is more beautiful, longer lasting, and often more affordable than a wooden or metal fence. The right evergreen trees and shrubs create a dense, year-round barrier that blocks views, reduces noise, and adds natural beauty to your property.
Year-Round Privacy
Evergreen species maintain dense foliage 365 days a year, unlike fences that can develop gaps and deteriorate.
Better Than a Fence
Living screens grow taller than most fences, reduce noise, filter air, and increase property value instead of depreciating.
Low Maintenance
Once established, most Texas-adapted screening plants require minimal pruning and watering compared to fence upkeep.

Tips for Planting a Privacy Screen in Texas
The most effective privacy screens use a staggered double row of evergreen trees or shrubs, planted 6-10 feet apart depending on the species. This creates a denser barrier faster than a single row and looks more natural.
Cherry Laurels are one of the fastest-growing privacy options for Hill Country, reaching 20-30 feet with dense, glossy foliage. Wax Myrtles offer a lighter, more informal screen and are extremely drought tolerant once established. For tighter spaces, Yaupon Hollies can be shaped into a formal hedge or left to grow naturally.
Eastern Red Cedars (actually junipers) are the ultimate no-fuss privacy tree for Texas. They tolerate our worst droughts, poorest soils, and hottest summers while maintaining a dense, columnar form that is perfect for screening. They are also native to the Hill Country region.
We install all privacy screenings with proper spacing calculations based on the mature width of each species, so you get full coverage without overcrowding. Every plant is installed to Texas A&M guidelines with enriched soil and mulch rings.
